About Port Hedland today:
*Washing takes about two hours to dry here-and this is Autumn! Not having to commit to doing washing and hang it out at 6am is great. Decide to do a load at midday and it's dry before the end of the day :)
*Exploring a new park and sipping on a HOT cappucino is bliss. Until the smallest one gets knocked out by his big brother on the swing and then IT"S ALL OVER!!
*Apparently this town has an environmental deal with the devil, that or we are the test group for climate change sceptics. Considering we are a town with 97% sunshine you would think there would be enough solar panels here to blind aliens on distant planets but no, all I've seen are a few solahart hot water systems.
The locals also don't believe in recycling for some reason, but you can "friend" the mayor on facebook and have coffee with her in the shopping centre so maybe I can find out.
Given our low precipitation rates water tanks would just be sensible right? Nup. No water tanks and no low flow showers/taps (secretly loving that. sorry mother earth)
This is doing my dready hippy head in!!
*Even though it is 28c and sunny to us greenhorns the locals consider this the cool season and thus the pool is closed until spring :O
Insert 3 very annoyed children here.
*The kids suddenly are open to every single activity I throw their way. They used to hesitate, moan and get anxious about new things but all of a sudden they are putting their hand up for everything!! They have a cartooning workshop coming up and Anthony is taking them to check out Go Karting.
*My not-quite-husband looks hot in his new hi-visibility work uniform <3
